Discover the Magic of the Series "Septies Septem" with the Work "Mar Negro"
In our online art store, we present to you a fascinating work entitled "Red Sea" from the series "Septies Septem" by acclaimed artist Miguel Ángel Aranda. This painting, made with the combination of collage and oil on panel, is a sample of Aranda's skill and unique artistic vision.
The series "Septies Septem" by Miguel Ángel Aranda, born in Córdoba in 1975, consists of seven collections that share a magical link: the seven deadly sins, the seven demons, the seven virtues, the seven musical notes, the seven seas, the seven arts and the seven colors.
The entire collection revolves around this sacred number that has been considered perfect since the time of Pythagoras. The presence of the number seven in transcendental moments in the history of humanity is not a coincidence. This number also has a notable presence in Aranda's life, from the number of the bus that arrives at the door of his studio to the 77 steps that lead to the entrance, where a small number seven reminds us that in "Septies Septem" nothing it happens randomly. Even the format of the series, as in this case of "Red Sea" with its dimensions of 30 cm x 40 cm, which with its frame measures 33 cm x 43 cm, invites us to add the numbers and reach seven again.
In "Septies Septem", Aranda exposes his aesthetic and ideological vision in a forceful way. These seven series reflect the artist's need to make his intention clear. Although at first glance the works may seem chaotic, they invite us to reflect on the position of the artist in his social environment. Aranda is not simply an art creator, each work becomes an act that conveys a powerful message.
A striking characteristic of Aranda's work is his apparent lack of discipline, which is present in all his creation. Indiscipline is inherent to artistic practice, since it is not tied to pre-established norms. In a sense, it's a rebellion against academia. Art, in all its expressions, has witnessed this indiscipline throughout history. From the visual poet and artist Joan Brossa, considered an undisciplined author par excellence, to the artist Tadeusz Kantor, the film director Jean Luc Godard, the writer Julio Cortázar or the musician Carles Santos, all of them have shown that indiscipline is subdued, markedly, to discipline.
